Joining Bugthorpe - Parent Feedback November 2020
"After visiting several local schools, we believe Bugthorpe is the best fit for how we would like our children to be educated. It fits well with our own beliefs of an emphasis on outdoor learning and a curiosity approach to Primary Education through enquiry and play."

-
the proposed admission number of 15 enables the straightforward organisation of classes. The infant class size limit of 30 children per fully qualified teacher for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 means that an admission number of 15, after the Reception year, can be mixed across Year 1 and Year 2 into one class of 30 as is standard across many schools locally and nationally;
-
there is sufficient physical space for the change on a sustainable basis, and
-
the school is currently operating four classes, by mixing Nursery and Reception, Year 1/2, Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 pupils, this proposed number will not require an alteration in the number of classes.
-
the school’s finances would be supported by the admission of approximately 15 children per year given the fixed costs of teaching per class;
-
latest information regarding the number of resident children living in the school’s catchment area shows that there are more than 15 children already resident who are due to start school between September 2025 and September 2027.
